CommonSpirit – Memorial Hospital and Lifepoint Rehabilitation plan to open a 40-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Ooltewah, Tennessee, expanding post-acute care capacity in the Chattanooga area.
The facility is expected to begin accepting patients in spring 2027.
The hospital will be developed through a joint venture between the Chattanooga-based CommonSpirit – Memorial Hospital and Lifepoint Rehabilitation, a division of Brentwood, Tennessee-based Lifepoint Health. Lifepoint will oversee daily operations once the facility opens.

The new hospital will be located on Mountain View Road and will focus on treating adults recovering from conditions such as stroke, brain and spinal cord injuries, neurological disorders, orthopedic procedures and amputations. Plans call for 12 beds dedicated to patients with brain injuries, along with therapy gyms, activities-of-daily-living training spaces, and outdoor rehabilitation areas.
“We see a great need for full rehabilitation services, especially in this part of Hamilton County,” said Janelle Reilly, market president, CommonSpirit, Tennessee and Georgia. “By building a hospital just for rehabilitation care, we can better help our patients. They can return home with more strength and ability after an illness or injury.”
The project reflects continued growth in demand for inpatient rehabilitation services across the region, particularly as health systems look to expand post-acute care options closer to where patients live.

Once completed, the Ooltewah facility will join Lifepoint Rehabilitation’s network of nearly 50 inpatient rehabilitation hospitals nationwide, as the company continues to pursue joint venture partnerships with health systems to expand specialty care services.
