United Imaging at RSNA 2024
United Imaging is significantly expanding its U.S. operations.
The Shanghai-based company has signed a deal to add new production and office space in Pearland, Texas, more than tripling the square footage of its North American headquarters and manufacturing facility on Kirby Drive in Houston.
The expansion comes as the company continues to ramp up U.S.-based manufacturing. Over the past four years, United Imaging has introduced local production in Texas for all four imaging modalities it offers, while also maintaining critical spare parts in Houston and other U.S. stocking locations.
Jeffrey M. Bundy, Ph.D., CEO of United Imaging Healthcare North America, highlighted the company's growth trajectory. “With the steadily spiking demand and manufacturing capacity also has come an increase in hiring,” Bundy said. Since 2021, the company has averaged a 60% annual increase in U.S. headcount.
Houston's proximity to major ports plays a critical role in United Imaging's global strategy, supporting the company's operations in South America and other international markets. In 2024, United Imaging secured its first product registrations in Canada and reached a milestone of 30,000 installations globally, including the latest unit installed in the U.S.
In September, the company reported
strong financial results for the first half of 2024, with a revenue of 5.33 billion CNY ($750 million), reflecting a modest year-over-year (YoY) increase of 1.18%.
A significant highlight of the report was the nearly 30% YoY growth in overseas market revenue, which reached 0.93 billion CNY ($131 million). That growth underscores the company's expanding global presence, with products now deployed in over 70 countries and regions, serving 13,700 medical institutions worldwide.
Founded in 2011, United Imaging serves 75 countries with advanced medical devices and digital healthcare solutions. Its Houston headquarters integrates corporate offices, a manufacturing plant, a product showroom, a service training center, and a service parts distribution hub.
