Bayer has appointed Dr. Jost Reinhard as president of its radiology business within the pharmaceuticals division, effective Aug. 1, 2026, the company announced.

Reinhard will report to Stefan Oelrich, member of Bayer AG’s board of management and president of the pharmaceuticals division. He succeeds Nelson Ambrogio, who became president of Bayer U.S. Pharmaceuticals in May.

The Leverkusen, Germany-based company said Reinhard brings more than 25 years of experience across research, development, commercial operations and business leadership roles within Bayer and its predecessor organizations.

Reinhard currently serves as head of investor relations, a role in which he has overseen engagement with investors and financial markets. He began his career in 2001 at Schering AG in research and development before Bayer acquired the company in 2006. He later held positions within Bayer’s pharmaceuticals business and commercial leadership roles in Australia, Poland and France.

Among his previous assignments, Reinhard led Bayer’s cell and gene therapy unit from Boston, overseeing one of the company’s advanced research areas.

“Bayer can build on a remarkable heritage in Radiology and a strong growth momentum, and I look forward to advancing this further together with the team – for the benefit of our partners, customers and the patients we serve,” Reinhard said in a statement.

Oelrich said the radiology business remains an important part of Bayer’s growth strategy and cited Reinhard’s scientific and leadership background as key factors in the appointment.

Reinhard studied pharmacy in Bonn, Germany, and Dijon, France. He earned a doctorate in molecular toxicology and medicinal chemistry from the German Cancer Research Center in Heidelberg.

Bayer’s radiology business includes contrast agents, injection systems and informatics products used in diagnostic imaging. The portfolio supports computed tomography, X-ray, magnetic resonance imaging and positron emission tomography procedures.

According to Bayer, the radiology unit generated €2.2 billion ($2.5 billion) in sales during 2025. The company continues to invest in imaging-related research, including molecular imaging technologies.
