Siemens Healthineers and Varian, a Siemens Healthineers company, will supply equipment to UHealth – University of Miami Health System for its diagnostic and therapeutic needs.

The only university hospital system in South Florida, UHealth will use both companies’ technologies in its programs for educating and training clinicians and technologists, and will work with both to form clinical and operational strategies.

The agreement is a Value Partnership, a branded enterprise service offering from Siemens, and is in place for the next ten years.

"Our equipment and solutions will be a great addition to the University of Miami Health System's already rapidly expanding footprint, allowing it to expand its educational and training offerings across the region," said David Pacitti, president and head of the Americas, Siemens Healthineers, in a statement.

Siemens will also install digital health technologies and offer consulting services at UHealth.

While the type of equipment being installed was not disclosed, Dr. Alexander McKinney, chair of the department of radiology at UHealth, says the new installations will be utilized in facilities that the provider plans to construct. "Building new clinical structures over the next few years, our goal is to incorporate the latest technological advances to serve our patients.”

It recently began building a new ambulatory healthcare facility, which will measure 363,000 square feet and provide residential health services to North Miami-Dade and South Broward counties.

It will include 110 exam rooms, ten operating rooms and 33 clinical treatment units for cancer patients and house specialty treatment departments for cardiology, endocrinology, otolaryngology, gastroenterology, dermatology, and physical rehabilitation.
