CMS boosts reimbursements
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a 16-percent increase to SPECT nuclear imaging reimbursement today, which was cut by 36 percent under the 2010 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule, Avi Soffer, CEO and senior vice president of University Nuclear & Diagnostics, told DOTmed News.
The cut was reduced from 36 percent to 20 percent, and the reimbursement increase will be retroactive to Jan. 1, 2010.
The increase comes as a correction to technical and typographical errors from the Nov. 25, 2009 Federal Register.
