Hartford HealthCare and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) have announced a significant expansion of their partnership, aiming to enhance cancer care and research across Connecticut, including the construction of a new Hartford HealthCare Cancer Center in Fairfield.

The Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute was the first member of the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Alliance. Building on this 10-year collaboration, Hartford HealthCare aims to become the first MSK Care Partner, a designation that recognizes healthcare organizations adhering to MSK's rigorous standards.

The new 25,000-square-foot cancer center is currently under construction at 4185 Black Rock Turnpike, near the Merritt Parkway.

Hartford HealthCare's president and CEO, Jeffrey A. Flaks, highlighted the organization's commitment to enhancing healthcare accessibility and affordability. "We are proud to deepen our collaboration with MSK's world-renowned experts to elevate cancer care and work to earn designation as an MSK Care Partner. This is a transformative moment for cancer care in Connecticut," said Flaks.

The new Fairfield Cancer Center will offer outpatient services provided by Hartford HealthCare physicians. The partnership also includes a dedicated cancer unit at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport, designed to provide comprehensive inpatient oncology care.

MSK Care Partners are healthcare organizations that integrate MSK's Standards of Care into their oncology practices, ensuring high-quality cancer care in community settings. These partnerships involve knowledge-sharing, access to clinical trials, and collaboration with MSK's specialists. MSK Care Partners commit to ongoing quality improvements based on scientific evidence.

Through this partnership, Hartford HealthCare physicians will have access to MSK's expertise, allowing them to consult with MSK specialists and observe new techniques. This collaboration will also involve data collection and tracking to improve patient outcomes.
