Intuitive is expanding its presence in Southern Europe by acquiring distribution operations in Italy, Spain, Portugal, Malta, and San Marino.
The company, known for its da Vinci and Ion systems, has reached agreements with its current distributors — ab medica, Abex, and Excelencia Robotica — to purchase their Intuitive product-related businesses.
The transaction, which remains subject to regulatory approvals and other closing conditions, is expected to be finalized in 2026. Once completed, the acquired businesses will be integrated into Intuitive’s European commercial and marketing operations, overseen by senior vice president and general manager Dirk Barten.
