Siemens Healthineers said it is developing a new radiopharmacy in Dunstable, England, aimed at expanding the supply of PET radiopharmaceuticals across the United Kingdom as demand increases.
The Erlangen, Germany-based company said the facility represents a $30 million (£26 million) investment and is designed to provide production capacity equivalent to eight times that of one of its current radiopharmacies. Siemens Healthineers described it as the first "8X" radiopharmacy in the U.K.
The facility will include two high-energy cyclotrons, multiple clean rooms, hot cells, dedicated dispatch areas and a quality control laboratory. Critical equipment and systems will have duplicate backups to help maintain operations in the event of equipment failures.

Siemens Healthineers said the site is intended to strengthen the long-term supply of PET radiopharmaceuticals and support nationwide distribution to imaging centers. The company said the Dunstable location was selected to facilitate same-day deliveries to PET/CT sites throughout the U.K.
The company also said the facility is being designed to support future growth in molecular imaging and theranostics.
Development of the radiopharmacy is already underway, with key infrastructure in place, according to Siemens Healthineers. The company did not disclose an expected opening date.
In a statement, Ghada Trotabas, managing director of Siemens Healthineers Great Britain and Ireland, said the investment is intended to address growing demand for radiopharmaceuticals and help ensure continuity of supply for healthcare providers.
“This is not just about scale. It is about resilience, reliability, and long-term certainty of supply,” Trotabas said.
Siemens Healthineers operates more than 60 radiopharmacies globally, including 18 in Europe.
