Royal Philips Electronics said Wednesday it bought Danish anesthesia business Dameca, for an undisclosed amount. The purchase lets the Amsterdam-based technology behemoth expand further into the anesthesia market following its 2008 purchase of Dixtal Medical.

The 64-year-old Dameca, headquartered in Copenhagen, makes the Siesta anesthesia delivery machines, patient monitors and MRI-compatible anesthesia equipment. The company has 60 employees and uses direct sales channels in Nordic countries and global distributors for 60 other countries.

"Dameca's anesthesia machines are a significant complement to our current operating room portfolio," Philips Healthcare CEO Steve Rusckowski said in a statement.
