Paul Ewald, newly DOTmed certified operations manager for Eagle Biomedical Services sees a "growing, thriving business that offers me a lot of opportunity," he says. Before teaming up with Eagle, Ewald was corporate sales manager for Detroit Diesel, a diesel engine manufacturer.

Eagle has been repairing lots of infusion pumps, ventilators, CPMs and respirators since James Gonzoph, Eagle's President, started the company in 2006. In fact, the Haddon Heights, N.J. company's sales have tripled in the last three years, Ewald says.

Eagle's niche is repairing, servicing and inspecting equipment for dealers and other medical refurbishers, who can't fix it themselves. The company also prides itself on finding just the right part at just the right price for its customers and has five engineers on staff to do the job.

"There are a lot of medical equipment dealers, or remarketers out there," Ewald says. "They basically buy used equipment from hospitals and resell it. But before they can resell it, they [often] come to us to repair and service the equipment so it meets OEM specs."

"We offer a low-cost, quality service, which saves our customers up to 40 percent compared to what an OEM would charge," he says.

Ewald adds that since he became DOTmed certified just last month, he has received 15 percent more calls from dealers across the country.
