Community Health Systems (CHS) has completed the sale of ShorePoint Health – Port Charlotte, certain assets of ShorePoint Health – Punta Gorda, and related businesses to Adventist Health System Sunbelt Healthcare Corporation (AdventHealth) for $260 million. The transaction, initially announced on Nov. 22, 2024, closed on March 1, 2025.
The deal includes two hospitals in Florida: ShorePoint Health – Port Charlotte and select assets from ShorePoint Health – Punta Gorda. AdventHealth, a nonprofit health system, expands its presence in the region with this acquisition.
Franklin, Tennessee-based CHS is one of the country’s largest healthcare companies, operating in 37 markets across 15 states. The company owns or leases 73 hospitals with over 10,000 beds and runs more than 1,000 care sites, including urgent care centers, imaging facilities, and ambulatory surgery centers. CHS trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol CYH.
