Nuffield Health and GE HealthCare have entered into a $247 million (£200 million), 20-year collaboration to install advanced diagnostic imaging technology across Nuffield Health’s hospital network in the U.K.
Under the Managed Equipment Service (MES) agreement, GE HealthCare will handle the acquisition, installation, and maintenance of nearly 800 pieces of equipment, including imaging, ultrasound, surgical tools, and X-ray systems. The company will also provide staff training to ensure the effective use of its AI-enabled technologies, which are designed to improve diagnostic accuracy and streamline clinical workflows. Initial deliveries of more than 100 devices are scheduled for 2025.
The initiative aims to expand diagnostic capabilities and increase capacity for both NHS and private patients.
“As the U.K.’s largest healthcare charity, we are committed to playing our part in getting the nation back to better health," said Alex Perry, CEO of Nuffield Health. "With NHS under sustained pressure and waiting lists at critical levels, this major investment will deliver cutting-edge diagnostic technology, helping to deliver faster, more accurate diagnoses, and opening up much-needed capacity to treat more people.”
The agreement builds on a 2017 servicing partnership between the two organizations and reflects a shared commitment to sustainable healthcare through energy-efficient technology upgrades. Nuffield Health also collaborated with GE HealthCare’s Healthcare Financial Services team on technology planning and risk-sharing strategies.
