Cape Cod Healthcare has tapped GE HealthCare to enhance diagnostic imaging capabilities at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis and Falmouth Hospital.

The initiative, part of a modernization effort, includes the installation of advanced CT and MR systems equipped with AI to improve diagnostic accuracy and efficiency, particularly for cardiac care. The upgrades, which will begin operations this month, are part of agreements extending through 2031 and 2027. These include ongoing access to the latest advancements in GE HealthCare’s imaging software and AI tools.

“Cardiac care is a critical area of importance for Cape Cod Healthcare as the community’s population ages,” said Dr. Shawn Rayder, chief of radiology at Cape Cod Hospital. “This investment reflects our commitment to providing leading-edge care close to home for our patients.”

The new imaging systems, such as the Revolution Apex and Revolution Ascend CT platforms, feature TrueFidelity DL for high-definition imaging and Effortless Workflow, which uses AI to streamline imaging processes. For MR, the addition of SIGNA Artist 1.5T wide-bore systems includes Sonic DL, designed to reduce scan times significantly, and AIR Recon DL, which improves image clarity and diagnostic accuracy.

This investment complements Cape Cod Healthcare’s broader cardiac care strategy, which includes a bridge program for atrial fibrillation patients and a clinical affiliation with Beth Israel Lahey Health for cardiac surgery.
