At RSNA, GE HealthCare introduced Sonic DL for 3D, an advanced deep learning tool designed to significantly speed up and enhance MR imaging.
The technology, part of the company's deep learning portfolio, aims to reduce scan times by up to 86% while improving resolution for various clinical applications, including brain, spine, orthopedic, and body imaging.
First launched in 2023 for cardiac MR, Sonic DL delivers up to 12-fold scan acceleration without compromising diagnostic quality. This latest iteration broadens its scope to volumetric imaging, building on the company's AIR Recon DL, which has been used in over 34 million patient scans. Combined, these technologies are poised to optimize workflows, boost diagnostic confidence, and improve patient comfort.
Healthcare professionals are under increasing pressure due to rising workloads and staffing shortages. GE HealthCare designed Sonic DL for 3D to address these challenges by streamlining MR imaging processes. The technology enhances resolution by up to 55% while cutting scan times for a majority of MR procedures, supporting faster and more accurate diagnoses.
In neurology, Sonic DL enables high-resolution imaging of complex brain structures, aiding in the diagnosis of neurological conditions. Orthopedic applications benefit from quicker imaging of joints, ligaments, and bones, minimizing discomfort for patients with mobility issues.
