Recently, a data breach occurred through a vendor of WVU Medicine’s called Nuance Communications, but it was NOT a data breach of any WVU Medicine systems.
The impacted data included limited information of certain WVU Medicine patients who received radiology services, including name, date of service, and reason and description of service. You may have received notification through Nuance as being an affected patient.
Nuance has taken numerous steps to prevent any similar incidents from happening in the future. If you have any questions, Nuance has set up a dedicated, toll-free call center to answer questions about this incident. Impacted individuals can call toll-free 1-888-988-0380, Monday-Friday between 8 am and 8 pm Central Time, excluding major U.S. holidays.
