As part of a long-term licensing agreement, LG Electronics is combining the features of its LCD medical monitor with Double Black Imaging’s CFS Calibration Software Suite to bolster the image resolution of various scans so that radiologists can interpret and make diagnoses from them faster.

Together, the technologies have 2- to 12-megapixel resolutions for interpreting images in teleradiology, mammography/tomography, cardiology, and pathology.

LG’s monitors include its 21-, 27- and 31-inch displays, which have built-in front and backlight sensors for automated DICOM as well as color calibration technology, flicker-safe technology to reduce fatigue, ambient lighting, and brightness stabilization.

DBI’s software has DICOM 3.14 automatic calibration with local and Web-based remote administration, and provides remote adjustment and calibration testing. Its CFS Productivity Toolkit has features for workflow, making scans easier to view, and reducing distractions and eye strain.

Both companies say that their bundled solutions will automate grey level and color calibration, and provide conformance testing, generate reports, and send non-conformance alerts through the web.

Based in Colorado, DBI provides its software and workstation solutions to more than 1,000 providers in the U.S. It unveiled its Phoenix II workstation back in November at the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) annual meeting.

The American College of Radiology chose DBI to be the display vendor for its education center.

LG also unveiled a surgical monitor, a diagnostic monitor, and an X-ray detector, all under development, at the show.
