Cooper University Health Care first in U.S. to use Viz Aortic to detect aneurysms in CT scans

Cooper University Health Care, in New Jersey, is the first U.S. hospital to use Viz Aortic, an AI-software application made by that can identify undiagnosed abdominal aortic aneurysms from CT scans.

The solution can facilitate better surveillance, interventional planning, and lifesaving care by reducing unnecessary transfers and premature discharges, ensuring patients are seen by the correct physicians, and that providers can keep tabs on them as they undergo follow-up imaging.

The solution measures subtle changes in the aorta's size and shape, and can be used with any CT scanner in the hospital network, according to The Trentonian. It will be part of the Viz AORTIC Module, an AI solution for speeding up treatment decisions for all aortic-related conditions. Staff members can also speak with one another in real time through a HIPAA-compliant mobile interface.

Cooper University Health Care performs cardiac catheterization, event monitoring, and surgery, and provides primary, tertiary, and urgent care to more than 1.9 million patients annually with a care team of 9,600.

In March, it became the first hospital in the South Jersey and Philadelphia area to implant the Barostim Baroreflex Activation Therapy, the first FDA-approved device that applies neuromodulation to improve symptoms in patients with systolic heart failure, according to NJBIZ.
