ECR and HIMSS, decisions decisions

por Philip F. Jacobus, CEO | February 24, 2016
HIMSS 2016
This year ECR and HIMSS take place around the same time and because DOTmed participates in both shows it's a real challenge for us.

Both of the shows are important — and both are growing.

HIMSS is all about health care informatics – an industry that is exploding on so many levels. I've talked about this in the past. There was a time when everyone was having a heart attack when faced with the challenges that the Affordable Care Act and other value-based health reform initiatives created.

However, I think through the success of HIMSS we can clearly see the savings and efficiency that is bubbling to the surface through data analytics — and this is a clear benefit to the health care delivery system.

In a way it reminds me of going from general ledger bookkeeping on paper with a fellow in a green visor to QuickBooks and keeping your books online. It's so easy to produce reports and information jumps out at you and as a result companies are more efficient.

It's for that reason that HIMSS is becoming more and more popular.

ECR, same story, but if you want to hear my views on that then you'll have to wait until next week.
