GE's Discovery IQ
GE Healthcare announced on Monday that its new Discovery IQ PET/CT received 510(k) FDA approval. DOTmed News first wrote about the system when it was unveiled back in June.

It allows the physicians to both detect smaller lesions and determine if the patient is responding well to treatment. It delivers sensitivity of up to 22 cps/kBq, which is the highest National Electrical Manufacturers Association sensitivity according to GE. GE also claims that its field-of-view of up to 26 centimeters is larger than other PET/CTs on the market.

The Q.Clear PET reconstruction technology that's built into it allows for a two times improvement in the quantitative accuracy and image quality.

"I'm excited about the recent FDA clearance of Discovery IQ, which will help physicians achieve their primary mission of delivering the best possible patient outcomes," Wei Shen, general manager of GE Healthcare PET/CT, said in a statement. "And, by making Discovery IQ mobile-ready, we engineered it to be accessible to more patients in more places, allowing for high-performance PET/CT clinical care to whoever needs it."
