Philips termina la compra del mammo de Sectra

por Brendon Nafziger, DOTmed News Associate Editor | September 06, 2011
Royal Philips Electronics wrapped up its purchase of Sectra AB's mammography line last week, acquiring its flagship low-dose mammo scanner, the MicroDose.

On Sept. 1, Philips paid 57.5 million euros ($81 million) for the operation, and will pay out an additional 12.5 million euros ($17.6 million) if certain conditions are met within the next five years.

The mammography operation represents 14 percent of Linköping, Sweden-based Sectra's net sales for fiscal 2010-2011, and employs about 110 people.

Sectra, which said it will now concentrate its efforts on medical imaging IT, will continue to sell and service MicroDose units in Australia and New Zealand under a separate distribution agreement with Philips.
