ULTRASPECT ANUNCIA la SEPARACIÓN del FDA PARA Xpress.PET USO DE LA RECONSTRUCCIÓN PET DE LA PROYECCIÓN DE IMAGEN DEL CUERPO ENTERO

Auburndale, MA-UltraSPECT, a leading provider of nuclear medicine (NM) image reconstruction technology that reduces radiopharmaceutical dose and acquisition time, today announced U.S. Federal Food and Drug (FDA) clearance for its Xpress.PET product - whole body positron emission tomography (PET) application. The product will be offered for sale immediately in the U.S. market.

Xpress.PET is the latest product based on UltraSPECT®'s exclusive Wide-Beam Reconstruction (WBRTM) technology that enables reduced radiopharmaceutical dose and acquisition time without compromising image quality.

The benefits of new Xpress.PET in whole body PET/CT scanning may include:

■ Reduced PET acquisition time to 15 minutes for a whole body FDG PET/CT scan

■ Reduced injection dose, minimizing patient radiation exposure

■ Improved image signal to noise ratio

■ Enhanced patient throughput and department productivity

■ Greater patient tolerance and comfort during scanning

According to Mack Burris, R.T. (R) (N), Clinical Product Specialist for UltraSPECT, "With new Xpress.PET users can shorten scan times or reduce FDG dose up to 40 percent--reducing a typical PET scan to 15 minutes for most patients instead of 24 minutes. Alternatively, an FDG dose of a normal patient can be reduced to 10 mCi from 15 mCi. The initial product will be released for the GE Discovery LS PET/CT system and will be adapted to other PET/CT devices shortly, and will make the performance of older PET/CT scanners comparable to newer models."

Ushering molecular imaging into a new age of imaging precision and efficiency, UltraSPECT's WBR products accurately compensate for the physical effects in data acquisition--resolution, attenuation, scatter--while controlling the noise level.

WBR Xpress.PET provides physicians with the same clinical information as typical PET/CT technology in shorter time periods or with lower injection dose, minimizing radiation exposure to patients and staff, while enhancing efficiency and patient throughput.

UltraSPECT's WBR products for gamma cameras have been routinely utilized for cardiac and oncology applications in the U.S. and Europe since 2005. New Xpress.PET expands the WBR product family with additional modality applications.

Xpress.PET is available through UltraSPECT at 1-888-WBR-SCAN (1-888-927-7226).
