Houston-area hospital group Memorial Hermann named Susan Distefano CEO of 308-bed Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital. Distefano succeeds Craig Cordola, who was
promoted to CEO of Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center in September. She's expected to start in January, the 11-hospital health system said.
This isn't Distefano's first time with Memorial Hermann. The registered nurse said she began her nursing career at the hospital nearly three decades ago. While there, she served as a neonatal transport nurse and helped run the neonatal intensive care unit.
Most recently, she served as chief nursing officer and senior vice president of patient services with Texas Children's Hospital in Houston. In some ways, she's following in the footsteps of her predecessor: Cordola held a senior position with Texas Children's before moving onto Children's Memorial Hermann in 2003.
