This year's Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM) annual meeting will be held June 3-6, at the Minneapolis convention center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The key topic will be "Value innovation through imaging informatics," which highlights timeliness, meaningful use, business analytics and other tools for quality and efficiency improvement.
While attendance isn't finalized for this year's meeting, in the past, SIIM has hosted between 1,000 and 1,200 professional attendees, says Caroline Wilson a SIIM spokeswoman.

Attendees can participate in more than 50 sessions, covering business analytics, image intensive specialties, automated reporting systems and new tools in data management. In addition to education sessions, SIIM offers a new feature for this year: vendor tie-in sessions, which will allow attendees to participate in discussions about current and future innovations in the industry with vendors.
Wilson says that the organization is really excited about its integrated learning sessions, which will "extend the opportunity for personal interaction, exchange and networking among attendees and exhibitors, thus creating a mutual benefit on the understanding of the application of imaging informatics to healthcare delivery," according to a SIIM statement.
The integrated learning experience is also made possible with the shared learning community, which will feature an innovation theater, roundtable and demonstration areas, IHE Kiosk and "The doctor is in" booth.
This year's three general sessions include "Year in review," which looks at using dashboards and business analytics for practice improvement; "The role of imaging informatics in the next generation of EMR/HER;" and the closing session, which is also reflects this year's theme.
Also new is the "roving" scientific poster and demonstration tours scheduled during exhibit hall hours, allowing attendees to discuss presentations with presenters.
In attendance this year as an exhibiting company is NovaRad, which will introduce NovaPACS and NovaRIS. These two new releases are targeted at group radiologists as well as single radiologists.
"This show is a great place to meet with radiologists and find out what their needs are and take that information back and add features and modules to different products," said Paul Shumway, vice president of NovaRad, in prepared remarks.
The early-bird registration deadline is May 10.
