The software to calibrate the newer Philips systems are on site with the service manuals. Error codes are part of diagnostics software and is not made available to third party companies or the customer who owns the system. The error code access on a newer Philips system requires a hardware key from Philips. You can have the customer purchase the access from Philips, it is very costly however.
Some early super 80 generators will only display the error code when it occurs and not store it. This all depends on the model and age of the system. Early Super 80 generators have no external service software and are calibrated by a service program activated by switches. a template is then placed on the operation console to aid in reading and adjusting the X-ray generator. Thank you, I know about the template part but I didn't know if there is a way to plug a service PC into the unit to do any other checks or cals like changing the SID measurement. Once before the SID was off causing the light field not to open up to the proper size film and they had to come in to reclabrate the unit but I didn't know how they gained access to the software to do that. It was a third party and it wasnt the new system where they would have needed the dongle to get in.
