boot problem for picker edge computer

we have an hpq plus mri that uses the same
dec based unix system as the edge we are having
a problem booting the system.note:it only boots
as far as the dec login (login:)and does not
proceed to the picker login screen.also could
use the edge software manuals or any manuals
for the hpq plus mri or edge system have been
advised no manuals were produced for the hpq plus
all help appericated
