Hi everyone!, I need help, in this ocation, with a GE Sytec 3000. I need to know if there is any way for disable a detector (or a group of ones) by software. I have a image with a ring and it`s not disappear with an air calibration, even with a phantoms calibration. Please, if anybody knows about this, let me know. Kind regards, Gustavo Volpi
I haste to be the bearere of bad news but, GE does not giver you the option to exclude detector channels. Your only option is to repair/replace the unit that you have.
dear friend:
First ,you should deturmine if the problem is in the detector or in the CAM & NCAM. To do this, you could use the two option flat cables ,to swap detector channels to different CAM channels.if the ring position is changed ,the detector (channel)is bad, if the ring position is still the same, the CAM B'D is bad. the detector is expensive you know.and the CAM problem could be fixed and repaired.
OK Guys, I allready check the NCAM Boards, and it`s looks fine (almost at simple view & inspection). My question is, Where can I find this "options Flat cables". I`d try to interconect the boards but, of course, the flat cables installed are very short.
OK, this is all for today, and if you have any other idea, please, notify me. Really thank you, very much.
Regards,
Gustavo Volpi
These cables should have come with the system, usually in the spare parts box. If you do not have these extra long cables, let me know, I have a pair you can borrow.
OK, you`r right. I was looking for this cables inside some boxes, and I found it!!, at less, that I think so. I found a flat cable, of 16 inches lenght, with two female conector (one on each side), and has a legend, who reads: JUNKOSHA E49881 AWM STYLE 2678 VW-1. Is this the correct cable?
The fact is that the CT system with the problem about is not right here, is in a near city, so I need the most information avaible to make everything I can on the same visit.
Thank you very much again for your time.
Best Regards,
Gustavo
That is the correct cable. You will need two of them to "criss-cross" from the detector to the cam board and see if the problem stays on the detector or if it is seen on the cam board.
Hi again my friends, here I am, with more news. I`m already croos the flat cables, but nothing hapend. After a phantom calibration, the ring still there. So, I cross the Ncams, and again, after the phantom calibrations, the rings... still there... in the same place!!. So, I`m thinking that te problem is on the detectors. My question is: There is any way to move the detectors (put the bad detector on the farthest side) without unarm all the detector system?, I`m looking the way to replace the bad detector and NOT perform a X-Ray alignment after it. Thank you very much again for your time.
Regards,
Gustavo.
Hi Gustavo; We could repair your detector. Your problem is inside the detector in some chanels of it. Just let me know if you have interest on this.
Best regards
Hello
I thing that you have a problem on detector.
Before measure the temperature on it and after I'll tell you how swap the detector to check the fault.
let me know

My dear friend Mr.Volpi:
If you did the Cables cross-connected,and confirm that the RING IS STILL THE SAME,the problem is in the CAM!! NOT IN THE DETECTOR!!!!
Another thing you should pay attention is,THE BOWL-TIE FILTER in the collimature, check it carefully that if it has been broken.it also can give you a ring artifact, but usually in this case, the ring is not very sharp.
Mr. Childs & Mr. Naik. Thank you very much for your quick answer. Before replace the detector, I will try to verify the DAS assembly. So, how you resolve the problem? What did you find wrong in the NCam and Cam Board?.
Your detector has a bad cell. The only option is to repair. The channels are not movable and trying to jumper them together will create a permanent "off axis" artifact due to the triangulation algorithm of the detector cells.
I can fix it if you like or there are many companies with exchange detectors.
If this is a zenon detector, then you have no choice to but to have someone repair it or replace it. If you have a solid state detector, you can replace the bad block of detector cells, but this is not an easy process if you have not done this before.
Hi their
I have been reading all the posts on your problem
If you cross the cables on the cams/ncam their is no reason do a phamton cal as the image will not be good, all you are looking for is the ring to move,if and only if it moves, should you look at the detector, and or cabling detector to cam/ncam.
Is the ring only one channel wide. What channel has the problem. You have to determine which channel is the problem. That is the first thing you have to do,
As a thought did you look at the collimator filter, dos it have a crack in it,but if that is the problem the artifact is bigger.
You have 3 cam bds, find out which channel is bad,if it is on one of the cam bds, then swap the bds around and see if the ring moves,if moves cam bd.Alot of work, use a groung strap on your wrist
Have your done any das/detector checks
Das date transfer check
das offset check
Good luck

I`m sorry, I don`t know why my info is not there. I`m trying to fix it. Answering your question, I`m, like you, in Paran. But I`m not in Brazil, I`m in Argentina.
Hi Gustavo, I am ex-GE engineer and am presently maintaining lot of GE systems in India. In case your problem is not yet solved, I can help you. First put water phantom and take scan. Ring will appear prominent on water phantom. Once you get image on screen, turn on GRID by pressing GRID key on keyboard. Then measure inner and outer radius of ring. Please let me know ring radius. Once it is known I can advice you further.
If possible email me on miteshmails@rediffmail.com as I dont visit dotmed often.

All Sytec 3000 detectors are xenon. The HiLight option was not offered on YMS products until the later ProSpeeds were released.
