New Orleans, LA – February 13, 2025 – Clarius Mobile Health, a leading provider of high-resolution wireless ultrasound systems and Longeviti Neuro Solutions, a neurotechnology company delivering innovative platforms for complex brain surgeries are collaborating to enable neurosurgeons with sonolucent cranial implants and wireless ultrasound scanners, resulting in a safer and more cost-effective option to traditional implants.
Clarius has adapted its ultrasound app to make its ultrasound scanners easy to use for neurological applications. Longeviti, an authorized Clarius Distributor, will be showcasing the complete solution in booth #202 at the North American Skull Base Society Meeting in New Orleans, LA, February 13-16.
“Why wouldn’t every neurosurgeon want the luxury of a ‘window to the brain,’ accessible anytime and anywhere, in all of their patients?” says Dr. Christopher Duma Medical Director, Brain Tumor Program, Hoag Memorial Hospital. “That’s what ClearFit allows us to do.”
Longeviti’s ClearFit® is an FDA-cleared, patent protected, sonolucent cranial platform that allows for ultrasound imaging. This innovation enables post-surgery monitoring with ultrasound, reducing the potential need for repeated CT scans and their associated radiation exposure. A 2024 study published in World Neurology suggested that ultrasound imaging through sonolucent implants is a safe alternative and estimated a cost saving of up to $4,000 per patient depending on the procedure.
“I’m incredibly excited about the new relationship between Clarius and Longeviti,” says Dr. David Langer, neurosurgeon, Chief Medical Officer at Longeviti, and chair of neurosurgery at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. “The Clarius device gives the neurosurgeon and all advanced care practitioners the ability to perform bedside ultrasound with a tool in their pocket. This is truly the neurosurgical stethoscope, and I am certain that this will have an enormous impact on neurosurgical care going forward.”
Wireless, pocket-sized and priced at a small fraction of the cost of traditional ultrasound systems, Clarius’ line of scanners are purpose-built for every specialty and operate with an easy-to-use app on iOS and Android devices. The AI-powered app automatically optimizes an image for superior brain scans, making it easy for even novice users to quickly learn to use ultrasound.
“Our partnership with Longeviti is another excellent example of how the open-platform design of Clarius ultrasound enables us to partner with other medical innovators dedicated to improving patient care,” said Clarius President and CEO Ohad Arazi. “We look forward to working with Longeviti to expand the use of handheld ultrasound for neurology and ultimately help outcomes for cranial implant patients.”
