Siemens Healthineers has incorporated NVIDIA's medical open network into its Syngo Carbon and syngo.via platforms, simplifying the integration of AI into clinical workflows and potentially speeding up deployment of new AI applications.

MONAI Deploy, part of NVIDIA's MONAI (Medical Open Network for AI) ecosystem, is an open-source platform designed to support the development and deployment of AI in medical imaging. Siemens Healthineers now offers MONAI-integrated solutions through its Digital Marketplace, enabling clinicians to access AI-enhanced tools that improve the analysis of X-ray, CT, MR, and ultrasound scans.

As part of the initiative, MONAI Deploy allows developers to create applications using a minimal amount of code, streamlining packaging, testing, and deployment. The integration reduces the time required to port AI models from months to mere clicks, according to NVIDIA.

“By accelerating AI model deployment, we empower healthcare institutions to harness and benefit from the latest advancements in AI-based medical imaging faster than ever,” said Axel Heitland, head of digital technologies and research at Siemens Healthineers. “With MONAI Deploy, researchers can quickly tailor AI models and transition innovations from the lab to clinical practice, providing thousands of clinical researchers worldwide access to AI-driven advancements directly on their syngo.via and Syngo Carbon imaging platforms.”

Syngo Carbon is an enterprise imaging and reporting solution designed to enhance patient care by integrating imaging data, diagnostic software, and clinical tools into a unified workspace. syngo.via is an intelligent imaging software that facilitates multimodality reading and advanced visualization.

The announcement was made at the Radiological Society of North America's annual meeting and aligns with the release of MONAI version 1.4, which introduces new foundation models for medical imaging. These include MAISI, a generative AI tool for simulating high-resolution CT images, and VISTA-3D, which offers comprehensive image segmentation capabilities.

Major institutions like Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, the University of Colorado School of Medicine, and Flywheel are among those using MONAI to develop advanced AI tools. MONAI is also supported by cloud platforms such as AWS HealthImaging and Google Cloud, expanding its accessibility to researchers and clinicians worldwide.
