Siemens Symbia Intevo xSPECT System
At the EANM meeting in Barcelona, Spain, Siemens Healthineers showcased a new version of its SPECT quantification technology, xSPECT Quant, on the exhibition floor.

In addition to quantifying Technetium-99m, the extended system can also be used for quantifying Iodine-123, Lutetium-177 and Indium-111 for users of the Siemens Symbia Intevo SPECT/CT system.

With the new capabilities, xSPECT can be used for indications beyond general nuclear medicine and bone studies. Neurological disorders, neuroendocrine tumors, neuroblastoma and metastatic prostate cancer now fall into the real of its utility.

According to Siemens, xSPECT Quant is the first and only technology to use a 3 percent National Institute of Standards and Technology traceable precision source, which enables standardization of standard uptake values for disease detection and therapy response using different cameras or dose calibrators.

Due to its absolute quantification capabilities, the expanded system may also facilitate theranostics, an emerging approach employing radioactive isotopes that emit energies to not only image but also treat patient disease.
