Welcome to the annual parts and service issue!
Although I’m having a little fun with this month’s title, the message is valid. In this issue, mixed in among the stories about training service technicians (Training options offer flexibility, p. 64), optimizing equipment usage (The cost of downtime and how to avoid it while improving care, p. 68) and our annual clinical engineer forum (p. 70), you’ll see a slew of contributed articles.
A few arrive courtesy of regular columnists, like Jill Rathbun’s piece in our View from the Hill column, detailing CMS’ rule to cut payments (p. 45) and Bipin Thomas’ entry in this month’s Diagnostic Directions – How the “Internet of Me” is transforming medical devices (p. 47). Still others, like Katie Regan and Loretta Loncoske, have been featured in the past and they return this month to talk about the best ways to choose a CT service contract (p. 52). But about half of the contributors are appearing for the first time in the pages of HealthCare Business News, with a wide variety of topics, from three things to keep in mind when choosing an OEM service company (p. 37) to data security (p. 38), being presented.
So we want your feedback. What gets you digging into HCBN each month? Is it the more in-depth coverage of topics, like Gus Iversen’s report on ISO consolidation (p. 76) or is it the quicker reads like the article on the true cost of medical equipment ownership by Alisandra Rizzolo (p. 44)? We’d love to hear your thoughts. Taking it one step further, we’re continually reviewing article submissions for inclusion in our magazine and online news. So if you have a high level of expertise in a field of health care that we cover and you’re interested in contributing an article about a hot topic of the day, send us an email with your idea. Just keep a few guidelines in mind: if you’re submitting an article, it has to be original to DOTmed News.

It can’t have previously seen publication somewhere else. Your article can’t be an advertorial for a particular product or brand. With rare exceptions, if you’re able to cover a topic without being promotional, that’s the track to stay on. And last but not least, be clear when you’re stating facts or opinions. So, it’s all pretty simple. If you have feedback on the issue don’t hesitate to reach out.
