Dr. Pat Basu
Virtual Radiologic, the country's biggest teleradiology group, named Dr. Pat Basu its chief medical officer. Last year, Basu became the first radiologist ever to serve as a White House Fellow, a one-year staff position considered one of America's most renowned public service positions.

"I am thrilled Pat is joining the vRad leadership team as chief medical officer and practicing radiologist," vRad's CEO Rob Kill said in a statement. "As we focus on advancing radiology, having Pat's knowledge and expertise will be a significant factor in our success."

Previously, Basu served as course director of health policy, finance and economics at Stanford University, and he practiced radiology at Stanford University Medical Center and Palo Alto Veterans Affairs Hospital. He also sits on the ADPAC Board of Directors for the American College of Radiology. And in 2007, he won the American Medical Association's National Excellence in Medicine Award for Leadership.

Eden Prairie, Minn.-based vRad's 400 affiliated radiologists serve over 2,700 facilities, the company said.
