Plinth 2000, the leading British manufacturer and supplier of adjustable couches for the medical and therapy professions, has launched a cost-cutting scrappage scheme for old treatment couches and tables. Under the deal, the Suffolk company is offering an instant 20% discount on any of its current models, in exchange for a tired old treatment table, and will also waive its usual Pounds50 take away and scrap charge, whilst ensuring proper disposal under the latest WEEE Directive*. On its top-selling Model 503 electrically or hydraulically adjusted 3-section plinth, which normally retails for Pounds740, this would mean a total saving of almost Pounds200.

Running to the end of November 2011, Plinth's treatment table scrappage scheme applies to any product of its own manufacture up to 15 years old and to all other makes up to 10 years old. It gives the opportunity for hospitals, health centres, independent practitioners, therapy clinics and health studios to replace equipment that might be showing signs of wear and tear, to upgrade to the latest clinical specifications, and to transfer responsibility for the disposal of old tables. Since there is no limit to the number of treatment couches that can be exchanged, customers can buy several new models and consolidate their spares and servicing provisions under one manufacturer.

"People might be surprised how many product improvements have been introduced over the past ten years or so, which together provide further reasons to change," says Plinth 2000 MD, Niall Dyer. "For example, hoist access now allows increased ease of patient access, while antimicrobial upholstery and epoxy powder coated frames make for increased longevity and easier cleaning. We've uprated the motors to lift heavier patients and withstand robust treatment techniques, as well as incorporating gas-operated struts for smoother, assisted table adjustment. We also offer a far wider choice of colours and finishes, even logo printing."

"We unearthed an early 90's product leaflet from our files recently and found that a 3-section couch was just Pounds200 cheaper than the equivalent model today, which represents less than a 2 per cent annual price increase over twenty years. Plus today's model has a much higher spec," he continues. "So, if you take advantage of our scrappage scheme to save around Pounds200, or even more on a 5-section plinth and specialist products, there's really never been a better time to buy a top quality treatment couch."
