Carestream Health said Tuesday it has sold more than 1,500 of its DRX family of wireless detectors worldwide.
The DRX-1 system, released in 2009, fits into a wall stand or Bucky and lets radiologists convert X-ray systems from computed radiography or film to digital radiography, the Rochester, N.Y.-based company said.
Carestream said it was the first wireless DR detector the size of a standard cassette cleared by the Food and Drug Administration.
Other products in the same line include the DRX-Mobile Retrofit kit, which works on certain GE, Siemens and Shimadzu mobile X-rays, and the DRX-Evolution, a configurable suite that includes a positioning table.
Carestream also released a cesium iodide-based version of the detector, the DRX-1C.
Recent buyers of DRX systems include Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York, which bought a DRX-Mobile Retrofit, and the Ironman Sports Medicine Institute at Memorial Hermann in Houston, which ordered two DRX-Evolution suites, Carestream said in an announcement.
