Ralph "RJ" James Coolidge III, president of medical equipment dealer Med Source LLC and former city councilman, died Nov. 26 at Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Ga. He was 49.

Coolidge previously survived two bouts with Hodgkin's Lymphoma and brain cancer, according to a note posted on the website of the Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home.

"You fought so hard for so long," a friend wrote on his memorial page. "I know you are finally at peace."

Coolidge founded Med Source last year. He also served on the Woodstock, Ga. city council from 1991-1994, a spokeswoman from the council said, and chaired a local branch of the American Cancer Society.

His friends and family remembered him for his work in the community, kindness, good looks and gift for storytelling.

"RJ was so special in his ability to dance with words and spin a hilarious yarn," a friend commented on his memorial page. "I'm at a loss for words to describe him."

He is survived by his daughter, Natalie Lane; his parents, Donna Booth and Ralph Coolidge, Jr.; and his siblings, Patti Salazar and Calvin Coolidge.

Services were held at the Kennesaw, Ga. Winkenhofer funeral home on Saturday. Coolidge's family asks that instead of flowers for donations to be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Lung Association.
