This Canadian made powerful, pocket-sized instrument provides corneal measurements via ultrasonic sensing for glaucoma diagnosis and is used by optometrists and ophthalmologists. It appears to be undamaged and in good working order. It is powered by standard AAA alkaline batteries. It has been certified for use the CE Mark (EU) and by Health Canada and FDA. This instrument has a mono LED whereas later versions have a colour display.
This Pachymeter is designed to measure corneal thickness using a 20 MHZ ultrasonic probe. Measurement with an accuracy of ±5 µ m occurs in under two seconds. Measurement status is visible on the screen and accompanied by an audible sound indicating success or failure. Practitioners can create their own IOP formulas or use multiple incorporated corrected intraocular pressure formulas. Up to 1000 exams can be store on the instrument. Stored data can be stored or printed using a standard USB port and Reichart desktop or Palm software (not included).
