Helio Otani, Bolsa da Ultrasom, www.bolsaus.com.br/

On January 7, 2005 Helio Otani of Bolsa Da Ultrasom ( www.bolsaus.com.br/) of Riberao Preto, SP, Brazil called me to purchase a Toshiba transducer , he offered to pay $2,000.00 for the probe.
Because I have known Mr. Otani for over 4 years , worked with him in a show and know him to be very successful I agreed to give him 30 day net terms. Mr. Otani has never made a single payment on this transducer since then. In fact he has ignored every letter, e-mail and telephone call regarding payment. He has gone so far as to instruct his secretary to claim that he is always traveling when I have called him. He also refuses to answer his cell phone.
I guess the lesson here is that even though a dealer may have been in the business for over twenty five years, appears to be very prosperous and you know him personally one still has to exercise ordinary care when extending credit. Because it would seem that some people are willing to sell their reputation and good standing for very little money

If it was shipped into brazil as a used item,it will not clear customes. It is illeagel to import used medical equip into brazil.Yes their are wayes around this problem. So my question is, when you sent the probe how did you send it,and what did the shipping docs say.I have a friend in the USA who sends me stuff all the time, always sent under value, always as new, sent fedex, normally 2 days. Also anything of over a value normally has to go thru a importation process and takes about 2-3 weeks and costs about 50% more. Here in brazil the duties are about 40%.Very tuff to do business.
I donot know Helio, but if has been in the business for over 20 years he would know this and would give you very specific shipping instrustions, just as i do.So they may be another side of the story here, i don not know.
My guy in the USA has been sending to me for 7-8 years, and once he my mistake he sent as used, that was 3 years ago ,i have never seen the cct bd,paid a company in sao paulo to get it released from customes, no way.We had to buy the cct bd. again, had it sent fedex as new, 2 days
made no money on that one,but still have customer

Dear Verne,
Thank you for your concerned comments.
The probe was sourced in Brasil and sold in Brasil. Helio Otani acknowledged receipt via e-mail and telephone. Acknowledged testing of the probe and also confirmed that his customer tested and accepted the probe.
