ThedaCare has completed the last installation of its $100 million modernization project at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Neenah, in Wisconsin, two years after construction first began.

Among the innovations made as part of the "Inspired Past: Healthier Future" project are an expanded emergency department, new building structures, updated ORs, and more that will support the critical care services at the campus, which is the region’s only Level II Trauma Center, certified Comprehensive Stroke Center, and ED.

“The updates will advance coordinated care throughout the ThedaCare service area, including critical access hospitals, giving patients greater access to innovative and specialized care,” said Dr. Imran Andrabi, president of Froedtert ThedaCare Health, in a statement.

ThedaCare announced the project in October 2021 and started work on it in January 2022, employing Miron Construction, HGA, and Hplex Solutions to oversee construction and design. The new campus includes:

  • Double the ED space: 20 exam rooms with specialized rooms for trauma and behavioral health
  • An additional helipad for the ThedaStar Air Medical Program to quickly transfer patients to the ED
  • An enhanced specialized space to care for stroke patients
  • Updated operating rooms that include advanced robotic surgical equipment, creating four dedicated robotics suites
  • An updated Theda Clark Peters Family Birth Center
  • The new addition of an Obstetrical ED and Hospitalist Program
  • A new Graduate Medical Education (GME) program
  • A new area for the Women’s Center, which includes mammography, diagnostics and imaging, and bone density testing
  • Key diagnostic outpatient services and a retail pharmacy on the first floor
  • A new dining area
Donors of the ThedaCare Foundation-Neenah partially funded the innovations, as did those who raised more than $15 million in philanthropic support. The Foundation also released $25 million from existing assets to provide a total of $40M in support of this Modernization Project.

“Through investments to enhance and expand services at our local hospitals, we can continue to prepare and respond to the needs of the communities we serve, keeping our patients and families safe and healthy, now and in the future,” said Dr. Andrabi.
