At this year’s Radiological Society of North America conference in Chicago, Canon Medical Systems will unveil Precise IQ Engine (PIQE), its new deep-learning reconstruction technology for MR imaging.

The application is part of its patient and technologist-friendly MR portfolio and is powered by Altivity, a new AI approach by Canon that uses smart technologies to refine the quality of and generate insights and value from scans. PIQE increases matrix size and removes noise; generates high-spatial-resolution scans from low-resolution ones while maintaining image quality and decreasing ringing artifacts; and can triple the matrix in both in-plane directions, a factor of nine times, improving imaging details and clarity.

Here is a breakdown of its features:

• Auto Scan Assist – prioritizes speed and consistency


• Optional Ceiling Camera and Tablet UX remote software – precisely align patients and automate landmark settings. The Tablet UX software also can remotely register patients, create protocols, monitor exams, and communicate with patients.


• Advanced intelligent Clear-IQ Engine (AiCE) – Reduces noise and boosts signal to produce clear and accurate images faster. Combined with PIQE with Deep Learning Reconstruction (DLR), it increases confidence among clinicians, patients, and operators.


• Iterative Motion Correction (IMC) – Includes DLR technology and reduces artifacts, decreasing the need for repeat exams.

The company will also showcase its Remote Assist MR console, which helps facilitate real-time protocol adjustments and training to optimize solutions to meet individual organizational needs.
