DirectMed has acquired Technical Prospects.
DirectMed Parts & Service has acquired Technical Prospects, a parts supplier for Siemens Healthineers scanners, further expanding the modalities covered under its parts portfolio in a range of medical fields.
DirectMed, based in California, has over 60,000 MR and CT parts in stock that it sells or uses to repair and maintain scanners developed by GE HealthCare, Siemens Healthineers, Philips, and Canon/Toshiba for healthcare networks, imaging centers, and independent service organizations worldwide.
With Technical Prospects, the company and its European subsidiary, LBN Medical, a Denmark-based reseller of aftermarket medical imaging equipment and parts that it
acquired in early 2022, can now provide parts for scanners used in cardiac cath labs, ultrasound, mammography, fluoroscopy, and radiography.

“Integrated delivery networks, ISOs, and OEM multivendor purchasing departments are consolidating their supplier base and working with companies that can offer immediate parts solutions across all OEMs and modalities. This combination greatly improves DirectMed’s capabilities on both fronts,” Brad de Koning, president and CEO of DirectMed, told HCB News.
In 1997, former Siemens engineer Robert Probst founded Technical Prospects, which today supplies parts and coverage for CT, MR, cath-angio, C-arms, general X-ray, ultrasound, and mammography. Currently, Probst’s son, Jeremy is the president and CEO of the company, which is based in Appleton, Wisconsin.
In a statement, Jeremy said that partnering with DirectMed will expand the “breadth and depth of parts, full systems, and technical support” that Technical Prospects can offer customers.
No immediate changes will be made to its brand, Appleton operations, or level of commitment to customers.
The deal comes nearly one year after DirectMed’s
acquisition of ScanMed, which specializes in MR coil design, manufacturing, and repair.
As they integrate with one another, DirectMed and Technical Prospects team members will “work closely with our parts and repair operations in California, Nebraska, and Denmark,” said de Koning.
Financial details were not disclosed.
