Agfa’s #CountOnUs initiative has already supported thousands of healthcare providers to deal with the extraordinary pressure being placed on staff and resources. The program is continuing and adapting as the needs of the healthcare sector evolve in response to the pandemic.

Increasing capacity, productivity and uptime
Chest imaging plays a key role in triage and diagnosis for the coronavirus. Under the umbrella of #CountOnUs, Agfa is offering hospitals a free MUSICA Chest+ software plug-in for 9 months; more than 400 hospitals have already taken advantage of this program. MUSICA Chest+ for gridless bedside chest imaging helps increase imaging speed and productivity of chest imaging by up to 30%, as no handling or disinfection of the grid is needed.

“With MUSICA Chest+, we get high-quality scans in the ICU, with as clear a lung pattern, as if we were using a grid. What’s more, chest imaging using a grid requires a higher patient radiation dose, so eliminating the grid is a big advantage,” describes Dr. Larionova Olga Viktorovna, Head of the X-ray department for KGBUZ Municipal Clinical Hospital no.11 in Barnaul, Russia, which is a COVID-19 care site for children and pregnant women.

In addition, Agfa has implemented almost 1500 new DR Retrofits globally since the start of the pandemic. The vendor-neutral, DR Retrofit offers an easy, costeffective way to upscale existing (mobile) X-ray equipment to become powerful DR systems for the battle against COVID-19.

Knowledge partner
Information is as important as equipment in this healthcare crisis, and Agfa has acted as a knowledge link between players. By sharing successes and learnings, problem-specific best practices have been identified that can be implemented quickly and simply, such as disinfection guidelines for CR and DR. Other shared insights include the advantages of CR cassette robustness for the ICU workflow.

“The #CountOnUs initiative focuses on finding ways to support imaging departments to meet their most immediate needs quickly, while offering value for the long term. As long as our customers are facing the increased pressures and demands of the health crisis, we are committed to working with them in solidarity,” says Georges Espada, Radiography Solution Business group leader of Agfa.
