ARLINGTON, VA—AAMI is pleased to announce that the Clinical Engineering Division of the International Federation of Medical and Biological Engineering (IFMBE/CED) has selected the association to host the 4th International Clinical Engineering and Healthcare Technology Management Congress (ICEHTMC). In partnership with CED, ICEHTMC 2021 will be a global event focused on international knowledge sharing, global networking, and increasing the visibility of the clinical engineering (CE) and healthcare technology management (HTM) fields.

The next Congress will take place September 28–29, 2021, at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort in Lake Buena Vista, FL, with a call for abstracts expected in the summer of 2020.

"This event is aimed at advancing practice through knowledge sharing, strengthening global networks, and raising the stature of our field within the medical community," said Brad Schoener, vice president of innovation at AAMI. "Our mission at AAMI is to advance the safety and effectiveness of medical devices all over the world. We're proud to be selected by and collaborate with IFMBE/CED to host this event and bring the global health technology community together."

The 2019 Congress in Rome, Italy involved more than 1,000 CE and HTM leaders representing 70 different countries. Previous events were held in Sao Paolo, Brazil in 2017, and Hangzhou, China in 2015. The upcoming 2021 Congress is expected to be larger and more stimulating than ever, and will include educational sessions, networking and discussion groups, a poster presentation and exhibition.

"The goal of the event is to share experiences and best practices on the global impact that health technologies have on improving healthcare safety and quality and clinical outcomes in different settings," said Tom Judd, chair of IFMBE/CED. "This is a great opportunity to bring together global experts, biomedical and clinical engineers, HTM leaders, academics, politicians and decision makers, representatives of the med-tech industry, and all those involved with the wide variety of health technologies that are shaping the way healthcare is being delivered today and in the future."
