Asheville Radiology Association has
joined the Strategic Radiology coalition
Strategic Radiology has once again expanded membership of its coalition with the addition of North Carolina practice, Asheville Radiology Associates.

The 43-physician group brings to the table a staff of 38 radiologists and five vascular surgeons who offer full-service diagnoses and treatments to seven hospitals, as well as dozens of outpatient facilities, hundreds of referring physicians and thousands of patients in Western North Carolina.

“We are excited to welcome the physicians and support team of Asheville Radiology to the many collaborative opportunities available through Strategic Radiology,” Arl Van Moore Jr, strategic radiology CEO and chair, said in a statement. “When like-minded, high-quality medical practices work together, our patients, our referring physicians, our hospitals, and the local communities benefit.”

Made up of 26 independent, private radiology practices, the coalition is the only radiology-focused Patient Safety Organization listed by the Agency for Healthcare Research and quality, and represents more than 1,100 radiologists. It aims to provide greater quality to patient care and more affordable access to medical imaging through the sharing of data and best practices, interchanging clinical expertise and consolidation of specific practice expenses.

To achieve this objective, the practice has selected a geographically diverse array of independent practices over the last few years, from Radiology Associates, PA of Little Rock, Arkansas to Minneapolis Radiology Associates.

The addition of ARA builds upon this progress by adding the practice’s subspecialized expertise around body, breast, cardiothoracic, musculoskeletal, neurological, interventional, nuclear medicine and pediatric radiology, to SR, as well as vascular surgery and neurointerventional services, 24 hours daily.

“My several years of positive experiences with SR led me to recommend membership to ARA,” ARA CEO Eric Weber, who previously led a different SR member practice, said in a statement. “The value of collaboration and participation between collegial independent groups creates a unique and highly beneficial radiology forum benefiting the communities we serve.”

Founded in 1944, ARA is located in Buncombe County in North Carolina’s western Blue Ridge Mountains.
