Stryker has partnered with Synaptive
Medical and Ziehm Imaging
Stryker is now offering additional technological solutions for greater surgical guidance thanks to new partnerships established between its Advanced Guidance Technologies business, and Synaptive Medical and Ziehm Imaging, respectively.

The agreement provides clientele of the surgical and neurotechnology manufacturer with access to whole-brain tractography capabilities using Synaptive Medical’s BrightMatter Plan software, and the latest flat-panel technology for CT-like image quality with the Ziehm Vision RFD 3D C-arm.

"The needs of our customers are evolving, and as a result our business should evolve, too," Lisa Kloes, senior director and general manager for Stryker's Advanced Guidance Technologies business, told HCB News. "The partnerships with Synaptive Medical and Ziehm Imaging strongly align with our vision and strategy, and enable us to continue to empower our customers with the capabilities they need to enhance their surgical decision making and performance."

Without disrupting surgical workflow, tractography enables clinicians to confirm if the data at their disposal reflects the intended approach and if detailed surgical planning is required. This allows surgical plans to be easily exported for navigation in the operating room.

Automatically generating high-fidelity, dynamic, whole-brain tactography, BrightMatter Plan eliminates the time-consuming task of finding a neuroradiologist or other tractography experts to generate tracts by providing surgeons with the resources to do so themselves and easily review tracts, as well as explore multiple approaches for establishing preoperative plans for every case. It is the only solution offering that is automated and whole-brain.

They also will have access to detail-rich imaging when using the Ziehm Vision RFD 3D C-arm, designed to provide necessary accuracy and efficiency for complex and critical orthopaedic, trauma and spinal procedures. It also minimizes dose and time required in exams.

"Our partnerships with Synaptive Medical and Ziehm Imaging enhance our already robust surgical guidance portfolio, enabling us to provide unique, innovative, and complete solutions to our customers," said Kloes. "We will empower our customers by providing advanced cranial planning that provides crucial information for surgical decisions and real-time imaging capabilities that will help with improved and predictable outcomes."

The addition of BrightMatter Plan and the Ziehm Vision RFD 3D C-arm builds upon other innovations carried out by Stryker to expand its product and service portfolios. A recent example is its acquisition of Invuity in September, in which it gained access to visualization and surgical devices to facilitate better patient outcomes and operating room efficiencies in women’s health, general surgery, electrophysiology and orthopedics.

It also recently partnered with 3D Systems for the development and distribution of virtual surgical planning and anatomical models and to reduce hours that surgeons and patients spend in the operating room.

The two solutions are currently on display at the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS).
