Aixplorer Ultimate ultrasound system
SuperSonic Imagine introduced the latest version of its premium ultrasound system, Aixplorer Ultimate, for the first time at Journées Francophones de Radiologie (JFR 2017), hosted by the Société Française de Radiologie, between October 13 and October 16 in Paris, France.

The new model boasts a variety of technological features for enhancing the possibility of new and noninvasive imaging modalities in the detection and treatment of breast and liver diseases, using ultrasound guidance to increase reliability for interventional procedures while improving patient safety and comfort.

“SuperSonic Imagine’s mission is to become a physician companion in noninvasive care pathways for breast and liver diseases,” Jacques Souquet, founder, executive vice president and chief strategic and innovation officer of SuperSonic Imagine, told HCB News. “The new Aixplorer Ultimate ultrasound system has been designed to satisfy a wide range of clinical needs among radiologists and physicians to benefit their patients, positioning itself as a major player in multi-parameter ultrasound imaging.”

Aixplorer Ultimate is designed to enhance detection of malignant or benign lesions and help reduce biopsy numbers in the management of breast diseases. It also can evaluate the severity of liver fibrosis by assessing stiffness of the liver as well as non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) without the need for a biopsy.

The system is designed with a new streamlined look, consisting of architecture that provides 4.5 times more computing power than previous models, an intuitive user interface and UltraFast technology to enable an acquisition frame rate 200 times faster than that of conventional ultrasounds.

It also contains the latest UltraFast feature, Needle PL.U.S, to enable simultaneous visualization of anatomical structures, biopsy needle, and the trajectory with a high level of precision, providing physicians with quick and reliable access to diagnostic information in the assessment of diseases, such as chronic liver disease and breast and prostate cancers.

Other features include ShearWave Elastography (SWE) for using color mapping to view and measure the stiffness of tissue in real time, a combination of Pulsed Doppler and Color Doppler known as UltraFast Doppler, Angio PL.U.S. to offer unrivaled resolution for imaging micro vascularization in lesions and TriVu, a new triplex modality that combines the diagnostic information of B-mode, SWE and Color+ imaging into a single image.

SuperSonic Imagine recently showcased its Aixplorer platform for the assessment of liver disease in May at the Digestive Disease Week Annual Meeting 2017 and in March and April at two breast health meetings, the 27th Annual Interdisciplinary Breast Center Conference and the 2017 SBI/ACR Breast Imaging Symposium.

The new version is CE marked and FDA cleared.
