Helps departments maximize staff and equipment efficiency
Royal Philips introduced its new IntelliSpace Radiology Analytics 1.2 decision support tool at the SIIM 2017 annual meeting on Thursday.
"Radiology departments and practices are very interested in analytics as it supports the challenges they face today," Yair Briman, business leader of health care informatics at Philips, told HCB News. "They need robust performance metrics to make data-driven improvements for their department and practices."
The tool is offered with Philips IntelliSpace PACS to provide a comprehensive view of radiology departments’ performance in terms of efficiency and quality of care. It aggregates and filters multiple data types including DICOM, HL7 and PACS audit logs and then presents the metrics on an accessible dashboard.
For example, it evaluates radiologist productivity by monitoring the way in which work is moving through the department. The department leaders can use that data to identify radiologists who might be overburdened or those who can handle more work.
The tool also provides radiology departments with their referral patterns and information on how their resources are being managed. That gives them insight into how patterns have changed over time and helps them identify modalities that are being over- or under-used.
"IntelliSpace Radiology Analytics supports answers to important questions such as, 'am I maximizing staff and equipment efficiency?'" said Briman.
The data from IntelliSpace Radiology Analytics can be paired with a front-end assessment through Philips PerformanceBridge Practice, which was launched last year. That can help the department identify opportunities and gaps within a health system.
The tool is part of Philips IntelliSpace integrated portfolio of health care informatics solutions. It leverages Philips' HealthSuite cloud-connected health ecosystem, comprising devices, apps and digital tools that work together to provide more personalized and continuous care.
IntelliSpace Radiology Analytics is currently only available in the U.S., but Philips has plans to launch it in other countries in the near future, said Briman.
