AHRA 2015
What happens in Vegas usually stays in Vegas, but those who don't make it to AHRA's annual meeting next week will almost certainly be hearing about it for quite a while to come. The show, which will bring together over 1,000 imaging leaders and 200 exhibitors in the interest of radiology administration education, will set up shop in "The Entertainment Capital of the World" from July 19-22.

Perhaps taking a cue from its location, this year's AHRA meeting will feature three keynote speakers who are as well known for their ability to get laughs as they are for their ability to inspire and motivate. Jeff Havens, who will speak on Monday July 20, outlines an abundance of reasons for attending — most persuasively, "a life in shambles" awaiting those who miss out:

David Fox, president of AHRA, told DOTmed News in a recent interview that focusing on leadership capabilities and continuing education (CE) have continued to be key priorities under his leadership. Those objectives can clearly be seen in the association's 43rd annual meeting schedule.

Radiological technologists attending the meeting will be able to acquire CE credits for the sessions they participate in. The sessions are grouped into advanced and beginner categories so that the curriculum can be curated to the specific needs of attendees.

As usual, the exhibit floor will be packed with newly announced products and services from an array of radiological industry providers. Big names like GE Healthcare (Booth #1029), Varian (#1634), Bayer (#729 and #829) and Samsung (#1425) will all be represented, as will companies with more specific specialties.

Knowing what to look for will be important for any attendee hoping to make the most of the event.

Aegys (Booth #539), Kopp Development (#527), and Metrasens (#1327) will all be showcasing MR safety innovations. Beekley Medical (#1530), iCAD (#1539), and Volpara (#1532) will be among the companies offering breast imaging solutions.

Sectra (#1325), Paxeramed Corp. (#122), and MedInformatix (#520) will be discussing Health IT platforms, and companies like AFC Industries (#1732) and RedRick Technologies (#1737) will be showing off workflow enhancing tools for a more ergonomic and user-friendly radiology department.

For more on those companies, and others, check out DOTmed's "Must See" list of AHRA exhibitors.

The exhibit floor will only be open from 11am to 2pm on Monday and Tuesday, and 11am to 1:30pm on Wednesday, so plan ahead. DOTmed will be at booth #834, so stop by for a free copy of the July issue of HealthCare Business News magazine and let us tell you how our auction services are more user-friendly than ever before.
