Floor-mounted digital radiography system
Siemens Healthcare has announced that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cleared the Multix Select DR – an entry-level, floor-mounted digital radiography system. The system offers a 14 x 17-inch mobile flat panel. For pediatric exams, the system’s grid can be removed to reduce patient radiation dose.

The detector’s design enables placement wherever necessary – in or on the patient table as well as in the bucky wall stand — with the ability to acquire images in portrait or landscape format.

The interface lets users choose the patient name with a single click, and the system automatically selects the organ program with the user’s individual requirements. The system’s DiamondView Plus on-board post-processing tool optimizes image processing for organ-specific examinations. Additionally, the software includes the Clinical Assurance Program (CAP) for documentation and statistical analyses of rejected images and the Exposure Index Monitoring.

Ultrasound processor
Olympus recently announced the launch of the EU-ME2 Ultrasound Processor, which can integrate endoscopic and endobronchial ultrasound (EUS/EBUS) on a single workstation.

The system offers full support for endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) procedures. EBUS allows visualization of the airways and adjacent structures. Along with its predecessor, Olympus’ EU-ME2 is the only platform that offers both linear and radial EBUS capabilities in one ultrasound processor for enhanced procedural and cost efficiencies.

The EU-ME2 is forward and backward compatible with a wide range of Olympus EUS and EBUS scopes as well as ultrasound miniature probes.

Mobile angiography system
GE Healthcare announced it has received Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance for its Discovery* IGS 740, a new rail-free mobile angiography system with a 41x41-cm detector. The Discovery IGS 740 is the first of this kind of mobile angiography system in the industry to receive FDA approval.
