CardioExcyte 96 for cardiac toxicity profiling and screening
Nanion's new device, the CardioExcyte 96, allows reliable label-free measurements of short- and long-term compound effects on the beating pattern of stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes. The system offers the highest impedance time-resolution (sub-millisecond) on the market and records from 96 wells in parallel. Efficiency and ease-of-use are facilitated by a software package for data handling and export.

CardioExcyte 96 is a turn-key system for efficient impedance measurements, also allowing recordings residing inside of the incubator. The system has been validated with stem cell derived cardiomyocytes from several providers (Axiogenesis, Cellular Dynamics International, GE Healthcare), as well as beating, 3D-clusters (Cellectis).

AcuPulse DUO CO2 Laser
Lumenis Ltd., recently announced the introduction of the AcuPulse DUO CO2 Laser. The AcuPulse DUO is the only integrated CO2 laser system that allows surgeons to switch between fiber and free beam modalities electronically.

The AcuPulse DUO addresses a broad range of clinical solutions for ear, nose and throat, gynecology, otology and general surgery. Combined with its full range of fiber and free beam accessories, it is a powerful surgical tool. Additionally, three power modes, three timed-exposure modes and the SurgiTouch scanner give surgeons the freedom to customize beam delivery and control tissue effect for optimal balance between surgical precision and microvascular hemostasis.

Aquilion Large Bore CT
Toshiba America Medical Systems, Inc.’s Aquilion Large Bore offers a suite of clinical and patient-friendly features, including bore size (90 cm), field of view (70 cm), optional extended field of view (85 cm) and an optional high-capacity couch (660 lb.) to image more patients faster and more safely. The system produces high-quality images for accurate diagnoses with 16 detector rows capable of reconstructing 32 slices per rotation.

Additionally, Aquilion Large Bore includes Toshiba's Adaptive Iterative Dose Reduction 3D (AIDR 3D), which lowers radiation dose compared with conventional scanning. It is the industry's largest bore system with iterative dose reduction.

EPIQ Premium Ultrasound System
Royal Philips Electronics announced the launch of EPIQ ultrasound system, offering an entirely new level of clinical confidence with a first-of-its-kind ultrasound architecture that is a totally new approach to creating ultrasound images without compromise. EPIQ features a new imaging technology called nSIGHT that when combined with Philips’ Anatomical Intelligence technology, delivers a powerful combination of speed and image clarity.

AccuDetect 6.1 Computer-Aided Detection system for digital mammography
Parascript, LLC, announced FDA premarket approval of its AccuDetect 6.1 Computer-Aided Detection system for digital mammography. AccuDetect is indicated for use in screening mammography to identify areas suspicious for breast cancer, for radiologist review, after completing an initial read.
AccuDetect gives full field digital mammography system manufacturers a next-generation CAD technology option to help radiologists increase cancer detection rates and lower patient recalls. AccuDetect is approved for digital mammography systems manufactured by GE Healthcare and Philips Healthcare.

Super-Resolution System for 3D Localization Microscopy
Extending its portfolio of super-resolution microscopy products, Leica has now launched the Leica SR GSD 3D, a widefield system that not only offers 2D, but now also 3D super-resolution imaging of molecules and cellular structures. Based on GSD (Ground State Depletion) or dSTORM technology, the widefield fluorescence microscope attains resolutions of down to 20 nm in the lateral and 50 nm in the axial direction. The Leica SR GSD 3D also scores with its unique precision for localizing single molecules, its system stability and its optical performance. These attributes are essential for reproducible, high-quality results in a very short time. The benefits of the Leica SR GSD 3D are rounded off by the easy operation of the fully automated system and software.
