AHRA reaches membership goal

Medical imaging management society AHRA said it managed to reach its goal of wracking up 5,000 members, a record number, by the time it staged its annual meeting in Orlando, Fla. earlier this month.

AHRA said it started the membership drive at last year's meeting with 3,607 members.

"This unprecedented growth means our association is in a position of strength that will enable additional educational programming, operational and management tools, and networking opportunities," Carlos Vasquez, AHRA's president, said in a statement.

The group also managed to recoup membership losses since its previous high of 4,254 members in 2008, according to AHRA's recently published annual report. In the report, AHRA blamed the drop off in membership through 2011 on budget cuts and health reform.

The society said as parts of its membership drive, it launched a group membership model where members could get discounts on their dues if a number of people from the same facility signed up at once.

AHRA, based in Sudbury, Mass., was founded in 1973.
