Start of something new...

From the December 2011 issue of HealthCare Business News magazine

I'm finding it hard to believe that it's already time for the final letter of the year. Time flies when you're having fun. Of course, time also flies when you're in the business of news and big stories are breaking in what seems to be hourly installments. When that's the case, it isn't always fun, but it's definitely not dull.

So what can I say about 2011? Looking at some of my letters from earlier this year, I'm reminded that things have been anything but dull. There have been a number of stories both in and out of health care that have shaped our year and will continue to impact us for quite some time. An earthquake rocked Japan and the global community responded. Despots were deposed and the world watched with hope for a brighter future. Our government . . . well, we're having some budget problems and disagreements about how to address them. Maybe they'll get it right in 2012.

Overall, the year may have been rougher than usual, but we're still here and that means we have a shot at seeing better times in the future. In the meantime, good or bad, we'll be bringing you the news and welcoming your feedback and opinions. I hope every year is better than the preceding for you and I sincerely appreciate your interest in and continued support of DOTmed News.

Until next year!
